2016 Legends & Legacies of East Bridgewater Gala photos

The 2nd Annual Legends and Legacies of East Bridgewater Gala took place on November 4, 2016, at the Canoe Club in West Bridgewater. Sponsored by the Anne Kenneally Hynes Memorial Scholarship Committee, this year’s event celebrated the accomplishments of outstanding honorees. All proceeds will be used to fund scholarships for graduates of East Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School.

The Spagone family of East Bridgewater have distinguished themselves through their accomplishments and their contributions to the community.

James Lively is the recently retired President of Bridgewater Savings Bank, formerly East Bridgewater Savings Bank. Following the example of prior Presidents, Jim was actively engaged in supporting community causes via donations and sponsorships. BSB was the first major matching grant sponsor of the AKHMS Fund. One of the many ways he continued helping East Bridgewater Schools was by providing an American flag to every East Bridgewater graduate, a tradition begun almost twenty years ago.

A special tribute occurred at the event. The Purple Heart awarded to EBHS graduate Cpl. Peter Moskos, USMC, 1947-1967, was presented to Superintendent Elizabeth Legault by Peter’s close friends, Dennis and Jan Blackwell and George and Kathleen Barris. The medal was originally given to the school in 2000, but was stored while the new EBJSHS building was being constructed. The medal will be on permanent display in the Spirit Collection cases at the Anne Kenneally Hynes Library. Peter’s daughter, Christine Medeiros, and other family members attended the event.

AKHMS Committee members are very grateful to the community for their support of this scholarship fund. Many local businesses, individuals, and banking institutions contributed to the success of the 2016 Legends & Legacies Gala.

Photographs from the event can be seen below.
